After months of planning, we finally got “hooves on the ground” on two great projects.
Staunton Meend, near Coleford in the Forest of Dean was the first place to host the “Beltie Boys” – our 4 most experienced cattle spent a month breaking up the bracken, and testing the potential for further grazing over the summer. We were overwhelmed with support from the local community, and enjoyed introducing the cattle to users of the common during an open day. Video of the grand release here.
We then moved the boys onto the beautiful Parkend Community Orchard, where we have once again been grateful for the reception the cattle have had – they’re only there for a few weeks this time to check that we can make logistics like water and volunteer checking work – but so far, so good! Video of a gorgeous sunny winters morning on site here.
