Different animals graze and browse in very different ways. That’s why we’ve added three Bagot goats to the team. Dodger, Humphrey and Goatie have already shown a great aptitude for eating literally everything in their paddock with the exception of the grass, which they seem to politely be leaving for the cattle and sheep.
Bagots are thought be to Britain’s oldest breed of goat, with records going back to the 1300s. They are naturally timid but given time can become friendly and inquisitive. Ours certainly are! They are ideal for conservation grazing as they’re hardy, pretty tolerant of rain and very well adapted to the British climate.
Dodger, Humphrey and Goatie have been wearing NoFence geo-collars for the past week, and are quickly learning the system. Once they’re fully trained they’ll be off on their first job and will have their fill of as many thistles as they can eat!
